Dr. Yakama Manty Jones is a seasoned Economist and prolific researcher with over 13 years of experience in both public and private sectors. She currently serves as the Director of Research and Delivery at the Ministry of Finance, where she leads interdisciplinary research efforts to inform evidence-based policy design and implementation.

In addition to her role at the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Jones serves as the Focal Person for the World Bank’s Human Capital Project and ECOWAS Regional HCD Strategy in Sierra Leone, providing thought leadership, design advice, and coordination support for human capital development strategies at national, regional, and global levels.

Prior to her current role, she worked on the European Union’s Public Financial Management State Capacity Building Project in Sierra Leone, holding various positions, including Data Management Specialist, Information Management and Quality Assurance Specialist, and Delivery Team Lead for the President’s Delivery Team, focusing on post-Ebola recovery priorities across various sectors.

Dr. Jones holds a Ph.D. in Economics and Finance from Birkbeck College, University of London, and boasts a wealth of academic qualifications, including a Master of Research in International Business & Development, a Master of Science in Finance & Economics, a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance & Economics, and a BSc (Hons) in Economics.

She is an alumna of several prestigious executive education programs, including those at the University of Oxford, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management, and the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University.

Dr. Jones is an Amujae Leader at the Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf Presidential Centre for Women & Development, an International Strategy Forum (ISF)-Schmidt Futures Fellow, a Google Open Governance Fellow, and a former Vice President of the Economic Association of Sierra Leone.

She is currently on secondment with Delivery Associates.
